French Toast Recipe
Ingredients:
4 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast work best)
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
2 tbsp granulated sugar
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp unsalted butter (for cooking)
Optional toppings: Maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, or a dusting of cinnamon.
Instructions:
Prepare the custard: In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar, and salt until fully combined.
Soak the bread: Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for 20-30 seconds per side. Ensure the bread is fully coated but not falling apart.
Cook the French toast: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp of butter and let it melt. Place the soaked bread slices in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
Serve: Transfer the French toast to a plate. Top with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, fresh berries, or a dollop of whipped cream.
